Thank you for your online application dated 7 March 2018 requesting the following information:
‘Please would you let me know what Population Equivalent you are intending to provide for with the proposed sewage treatment works at the Glenfaba House site. Please would you also confirm that the proposed sewage treatment works at the Glenfaba House site are not intended to treat effluent from any area outside Peel and the former Raggatt Tip.’
Response to Your Request
In response to the first part of your request the current effluent licence for discharge into Peel is for a population equivalent (PE) of 5,560 based on the domestic population. An early feasibility study for the Regional Sewage Treatment Strategy - Phase 2 (RSTS2) in 2016 designers estimated a PE of 6,257 for the Peel works; this figure was to cover Peel and any planned increase to housing in the area, plus an additional estimate for consideration of any expansion to the catchment area.
Our aim is to provide information whenever possible but in response to your second question, in this instance Manx Utilities does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested. This is because there are currently no final designs or decisions made, but effluent from outside the current Peel catchment, including The Raggatt, has not been excluded to date.
When a proposed outline design is ready a full consultation will take place through both the Peel Town Commissioners and by public exhibition, prior to the formal submission of the details for planning permission. This is likely to be sometime in June 2018.
