Original Request

The MUA have now published following a previous FOI request that in addition to the considered 40 sites in Laxey for the installation of a sewerage treatment works. Within this information they also identified 8 sites in Baldrine suitable for siting sewerage treatment works to prevent the raw discharge of sewerage into the Laxey Bay from the Garwick discharge pipe. The request is made to identify each of those Baldrine sites todate in both name and location and any necessary comments or reasons to show why each site was not suitable or indeed suitable.

We write further to your request which was received on 12 November 2019 and which states:

"The MUA have now published following a previous FOI request that in addition to the considered 40 sites in Laxey for the installation of a sewerage treatment works. Within this information they also identified 8 sites in Baldrine suitable for siting sewerage treatment works to prevent the raw discharge of sewerage into the Laxey Bay from the Garwick discharge pipe. The request is made to identify each of those Baldrine sites todate in both name and location and any necessary comments or reasons to show why each site was not suitable or indeed suitable."

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee. The full Dalrymple Associates report is publically available from the Tynwald Library, as part of the Appendices ‘IRIS Regional Sewage Treatment Strategy - Business Case Report 2008’. Reproduction of reports that are held by Tynwald Library do incur a charge/production fee; more details can be obtained direct from them at www.tynwald.org.im However to provide help and assistance in this case, as with the previous Laxey request, we have extracted the detail you require for Baldrine please find attached copies of that information.
