This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2015.
We write further to your request which was received on 13 September 2019 and which states (numbered for ease of reference):
"How many buildings have been 1. purchased and 2. demolished and at what cost
since October 2011."
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, some of
the data is not held in a format which would allow us to provide it without undertaking
substantial compilation or collation of information that it holds, which the Department
is not required to do under s11.3(b) referring to s8.3(c) of the Act.
In this instance, we are referring to the costs associated with demolishing the buildings
listed under item 2. below. Collating this information would require the manual
searching of numerous Purchase Order books to find any orders relating to demolition
and then extracting all invoices relating to those orders. We have however provided
the rest of the information you request, including the costs of purchases.

The total number of properties purchased in the stipulated timescale was 137 at a
total cost of £26,830,420.75 - these are broken down as follows:
