Having noted that some information is available already, I am trying to fill in the gaps and get more detail, so please excuse the fact that the requests may not seem entirely 'sequential'. Can you please supply the numbers for the total number of planning appeals in 2016 and 2017 the proportion of appeals from 2015 to 2019 (inclusive) that have been undertaken by way of written submission For the period 2016 - 2019 (inclusive) The average length of time a written appeal takes from the request being received by Cabinet Office to the Inspector's recommendation being received by Cabinet Office For the period 2016 -2019 the average length of time an appeal undertaken on the basis of a hearing takes from the request being received by Cabinet Office to the Inspector's recommendation being received back by Cabinet Office

We write further to your request which was received on 5 September 2019 and which states:

The total number of planning appeals in 2016 and 2017: 2016 – 82 2017 – 63 2. The proportion of appeals from 2015 to 2019 (inclusive) that have been undertaken by way of written submission: 2015 – 31% 2016 – 53% 2017 – 36% 2018 – 33% 2019 – 35% [to date]
