I have detailed below the information that is held.
Question 1
How many supported living providers are contracted by Adult Social Care?
The Community Care Directorate’s Adult Social Care service commissions have two
separate providers to deliver supported living services for 1. Adults with autism and a
learning disability; and 2. adults with a physical disability and or complex neurological
condition.
Question 2
Is there a waiting list for mental health supported living services? If so, how
many are on the waiting list?
There is not an explicit waiting list in operation. Applications for tenancy are
considered by a multi-disciplinary team panel.
Question 3
Is there a waiting list for learning disability supported living services? If so,
how many are on the waiting list?
The Learning Disability Supported Living Service offers support on a short or long term
basis to adults with a formal diagnosis of a learning disability living in the local
community. There is currently no waiting list for this service.
Question 4
What is the preferred model for mental health supported living services?
Please confirm if it is shared accommodation or self-contained units.
The existing service provides a number of self-contained flats within a community
based setting. The model supports individuals on a recovery pathway to move on into
independent living in the community. Service models are reviewed and developed in
alignment with service user need and demand.
Question 5
What is the preferred model for learning disability supported living services?
Please confirm if it is shared accommodation or self-contained units.
Individuals hold independent tenancy agreements, usually with local authorities. The
Departments’ learning disability supported living service does not prescribe a model.
The service provides support to individuals in their own home.
Question 6
What is the process for getting adult mental health and learning disabilities
supported living service (a third party provider) commissioned?
Individuals will require an assessment of need following referral to Adult Social Care or
the Mental Health Service. If from a provider perspective, there is interest in creating
supported living models on the Isle of Man it is recommended that they contact the
Directorates Commissioning and Contracts Section.
Question 7
By financial year, from 2013 to date, list the number of complaints made
against adult social care, mental health and learning disabilities.

Learning Disabilities budgets are included within the overall total for Adult Services.
The 19/20 budget reflects the transfer of services/functions as part of the creation of
the Community Care Directorate.
Question 9 Please provide copies of the adult social care senior management team minutes from 1st May 2018 to date. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Department of Health and Social Care (“the Department”) is unable to provide the information you have requested. This is in line with section 11(3)a of the Act, as a practical refusal reason applies; namely we do not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested.
