Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 11 July 2019 and which states:

"1. Please provide the number of work permits issued to Jacksons Isle of Man Cooil Road Braddan including staff at the registered company address in Athol Street Douglas. 2. Please supply the grounds for granting work permits to this firm. 3. How many non-resident workers are working there without work permits?" Our response to your request is as follows: 1. The total number of work permits issued to Jacksons Isle of Man is 54, of which 37 are currently active (17 having subsequently expired or having been cancelled). 2. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Department for Enterprise does not hold the information you have requested as the grounds for approval are not recorded within the processing system. However, individual applications are scrutinised during the decision making process and it is a requirement of the Control of Employment Act 2014 that the employer must demonstrate there are no suitable and available Isle of Man workers. The Department requires evidence of advertising and the response to job adverts to be submitted with a work permit application, together with information relating to any shortlisting and interview process. Further information on the application and decision making process is available in the Department guidance on work permits here.

  1. Again, in this instance the Department does not hold the information you have requested. Anyone who is not an "Isle of Man worker", as defined by the Control of Employment Act 2014, requires a work permit, or to be covered by an exemption under that act. Please quote the reference number 881965 in any future communications. Your right to request a review
