Dear ###,

We write further to your request which was received on 10 June 2019 and which states:

"The Department received £5.5m from the sale of the Nunnery to the ICT Ltd, in addition it was granted a £500k transitional payment by the Council of Ministers to move out of the property and disruption. Could detail be provided as to how each of these sums was used by the Department?" While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Department of Education, Sport and Culture (DESC) does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of the information that you have requested. Specifically what the £5 million received from the sale of the Nunnery was used for. This is because the money was not paid to DESC, however by way of advice and assistance the proceeds were credited to the Consolidated Loans Fund and this fund is managed by the Treasury which is used to progress Government Capital Schemes.

I have detailed below the information that is held. The Department can confirm that £500,000 has been allocated to transition the DESC from the Nunnery. As this has yet to physically happen the money has not yet been used and is still unspent within the DESC’s Capital Programme.
