Dear ###
This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2015.
We write further to your request which was received on 26 October 2018 and which states:
"Following on from Tim Baker MHK's remarks on Manx Radio
Please could you supply the amount of government funding to the meat plant per
livestock units on a monthly basis for the period of September 2013 to end August
2018. When the funding has been given over a period of months then a equal split per
month compared against the livestock units processed each month."
Response to your request
While our aim is to provide information wherever possible, in this instance the
information requested is not held by the Department in a way that makes it readily
accessible. Animal numbers and locations are collected for reasons of traceability and
disease control. While they could be extracted from the databases, to then carry out
calculations for cattle and sheep and provide them in a way that answers your request
for the five year period would constitute “substantial compilation or collation”. This is
work the Department is not required to do under the Freedom of Information Act.
Section 8(3) states:
(c) Nothing in this Act requires a public authority to undertake substantial
compilation or collation of information that it holds.
The throughput figures of livestock at the Meat Plant are held by the Department but
are not analysed or published in a way that would answer your question.
