We write further to your request which was received on 19 September 2018 and which states (sic):

"1. Is there an unspoken policy to protect members of staff that work for any part of Government that commit alledged criminality under common law or statute whilst being paid to serve the public? 2. What is the procedure to report/whistle-blow white-collar criminality within the local authoritys or central Government?"

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested or the information is readily available by other means.

  1. In the terms of Freedom of Information this is not a valid request. Freedom of Information is for information held i.e. documents, emails, policies, procedures; therefore we are unable to provide written evidence of any ‘unspoken policies’.
  2. You will find the Governments policy on whistleblowing through the following link https://hr.gov.im/policies-procedures-codes-and-guidance/whistleblowing-policy/. You could also do a google search using the terms ‘iom gov whistleblowing policy’.
