We write further to your request which was received on 17 August 2018 and which states:

"Please state how many times student data was breached by Isle of Man high schools' staff over the last five years."

We sought clarification on your request on 17 August which you responded with: ‘. . . what is meant by 'breached'. . .’- data breaches, of information relevant to students, whether personal data or data relating to the students at their schools. . .data that is not allowed to go outside of the schools to the public, data/information that is supposed to be held by the schools confidentially. What data was found to have been released to the public by members of staff from high schools on the Isle of Man? Our response to your request is as follows: From the records held by the High Schools and from information disclosed to the Department we can advise that there was one data breach involving student data in the last five years. Please quote the reference number 577533 in any future communications.
