I am writing to you to request the following information. Does the Department use the herbicide glyphosate, sold under the name Roundup, in any of its work? And if so how much of the herbicide is used and on what areas?

We write further to your request which was received on 24 August 2018 and which states:
"I am writing to you to request the following information. Does the Department use the herbicide glyphosate, sold under the name Roundup, in any of its work? And if so how much of the herbicide is used and on what areas?" While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, the Department is refusing your Freedom of Information request on the grounds of a practical refusal reason under section 11 of the Act. This is because your request is in fact seeking information from the Department which we do not hold or have access to. The maintenance of grounds/gardens at the Department’s properties is undertaken by another Government department.
Therefore there is no information to disclose and the Department is therefore satisfied that your request should be refused on the grounds of a practical refusal reason under the provisions of section 11(3) (a) of the Act:- (a) the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that the applicant has requested By way of advice and assistance, the responsibility for the maintenance of grounds/gardens at the Department’s properties falls to the Public Estates and Housing Division section of the Department of Infrastructure and you should submit your request to that department via the on-line portal, which can be found at https://www.gov.im/about-the-government/freedom-of-information/how-to-make-a- freedomof-information-request/ Please quote the reference number 575335 in any future communications.
