Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 21 January 2026, which states:

"In the past two years, Jan - Dec 2024 and Jan - Dec 2025, how many reports have been received by the Department relating to road markings in poor condition or need of repainting by;

  1. Notify.im app

  2. Email to the Department

  3. Email to the Minister in post during the dates specified

And specifically how many reports have been received for the following locations;

  1. Woodbourne Road/ Albany Road junction

  2. Alexander Drive/Primrose Avenue junction

  3. Finch Road/Church Road Marina outside St Thomas's Church

And in the same time period, how many times have the road markings at the three locations listed been repainted?

Thank you"

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, complying with part of your request for information would require the Department of Infrastructure to create or derive information from information that it holds, which the Department is not required to do under Section 11(3)(b) the Isle of Man Freedom of Information Act 2015.

When the Department receives a defect reported via the Notify app, we record the defect in Symology. Unfortunately, the drop-down menu in the Notify app does not allow users to record a defect as a road marking, so many users instead report it as a sign, miscellaneous defect, or another type of carriageway defect. Therefore, between January 2024 and December 2025, the total number of road-marking/defects reported via the Notify app is 198.

Between January 2024 and December 2025, a total of 3 reports were submitted via email to the Department, and 4 to the Minister in post during that period.

Reports received relating to specific locations are as follows:

Woodbourne Road/Albany Road junction - 8

Alexander Drive/Primrose Avenue junction - 2

Finch Road/Church Road Marina outside St Thomas’s Church – None

The Department does not hold records of how many times road markings have been repainted in their lifetime.
