Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 25 June 2018 and which states:
"I request the most recently published food hygiene reports for the Island's five secondary schools."
Our response to your request is as follows: Food Hygiene Inspection Reports are not, as a matter of course, published. The Department can advise, however, that all of the Island’s five state secondary schools have been inspected over the last six years. The Department worked closely with officers of the Department of Health & Social Security (as until recently, their catering team managed the catering for the secondary schools) agreeing food hygiene systems and therefore reducing the need for proactive inspections. The Department is now working closely with officers at the Department of Education, Sport and Culture (as their catering team now manages the catering for the secondary schools) to maintain existing food hygiene systems in the Island’s secondary schools. For your further information, inspections of premises with adequate food hygiene systems in place do not always generate inspection reports. Reports are produced when a number of issues requiring corrective actions are identified during an inspection. The date of visit is formally recorded as required on the Directorate's reporting system. We hold one report which dates back to 2012 and I have attached the scanned copy of this document for your information.
