Dear
We write further to your request, received 20 October 2025, which states:
"How much is a locum GP paid per hour by Manx Care?
How many GP's does Manx Care have on a locum basis?"
Response
Manx Care, Primary Care Services, rarely uses private locum GPs, although individual GP Practices who are contracted to Manx Care, do. We do not hold information on the costs of private locums that individual GP Practices pay for their locum support.
From time to time it has been necessary to use locum GP services in Manx Care’s salaried GP Practice (Ballasalla). Locum fees in that respect depends on the work the locum is being required to do.
On average a GP locum session consists of 12 patient appointments with associated administrative duties and could also involve home visits at a cost of approx. £300 per session.
