Our response to your request is as follows:
In September 2023 the Land Registry provided information to the Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Justice Committee, which was considering the position of Adverse Possession in the Isle of Man, that showed 25.86% of the total land area of the Isle of Man was registered in the Land Registry. As of September 2025, the figure stands at 28.22%. In terms of the area measured by hectares, the percentages equate to 14,794 and 16,146 hectares respectively.
The images below show the areas of land registered in 2023 and 2025.
Since mid-2020, the majority of land transactions received in the Land Registry on a monthly basis relate to transfers of registered land (as opposed to applications for compulsory first registration).
