Dear ###
We write further to your request, received 20 August 2025, which states:
"4883712
How many vehicles have been granted residents parking permit that is over the allowed weight limit ie vans etc
And if so, why and how over the limit?
From 2018 - Present"
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.
There are no resident parking permits that have been issued to vehicles exceeding the prescribed weight limits. During the application process, vehicle details are reviewed. If there is any uncertainty regarding the weight of a vehicle, the applicant is requested to present the vehicle at the Test Centre. This allows verification of the plated weight before a permit can be considered.
Furthermore, the Department does not hold information on the specific types of vehicles to which residents parking permits are issued. Vehicle eligibility is assessed during the application process by reviewing the Vehicle Registration Certificate prior to issuing a permit.
