Dear ###,
We write further to your request, received 11 July 2025, which states:
"Please could you provide details of how many work visas have been issued in the period from 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025 broken down by (a) category (b) nationality (c) salary (d) public or private sector and (e) role in the same format as the answer to question W-202401-1383 asked by Ms Edge on 16.12.2024."
Our response to your request is as follows:
Please find attached Appendix 1 which details of how many work visas have been
issued from 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are
unable to provide some of the information you have requested because it is absolutely
exempt under section 25 of the Act (absolutely exempt personal information).
The information to which the exemption has been applied includes different
nationalities and the number of individuals for each of the nationalities. These numbers
relate to a very small amount of individuals per nationality and disclosure of this
information poses the likely risk of identification of these individuals, who can be
indirectly identified from the information in combination with other information from
other available sources, including what has been disclosed as part of this request.
The reasons why that exemption applies are that:
• The Treasury is satisfied that the information amounts to personal data of
which you are not the data subject; and
• The Treasury is satisfied that disclosure of the information would contravene one of the data protection principles as set out at Article 5 of the General Data Protection Regulation as it applies in the Isle of Man pursuant to the Data Protection (Application of GDPR) Order 2018, namely that the Treasury can
only disclose the information where it would be fair, lawful and meet one of the conditions for lawful processing in Article 6 and in this case, none of those conditions have been met. Please quote the reference number 4792033 in any future communications.
