Summary
The requester asked for an explanation of the coding structure of Manx Care Job Evaluation Reference Numbers and copies of relevant revaluation policies. Manx Care disclosed the specific meaning of each segment of the reference number and provided a link to the publicly available Job Evaluation Appeal Procedure.
Key Facts
- The first four numbers of the reference code represent the sequential order of the job description created (e.g., 1268 is the 1268th job).
- The fifth and sixth characters indicate the version number of the job description (e.g., v1, v2).
- The letters 'JE' stand for Job Evaluation, indicating the role has been reviewed through the standard process.
- The last two numbers represent the year the role was created (e.g., '23' for 2023).
- When a job is updated, only the version number increases while the base number and year remain the same.

Original Request
Please explain how "Job Evaluation Reference Numbers" specified on Manx Care job descriptions are structured/coded, and how they are used to track changes to roles as a result of job revaluations. By way of example, the recently advertised position of Emergency Department Sister/Charge Nurse (Job Reference: MCX-022225) has a specified Job Evaluation Reference Number of "1268v1/JE/23". Please can you confirm - * What the first four numbers mean ('1268' in the example above) * What the fifth and sixth alphanumeric mean ("v1" in the example above) * What the seventh and eighth letters mean ("JE" in the example above) * What the last two numbers mean ('23' in the example above) * How these numbers and alphanumeric would (and would not) change in response to job revaluations. Finally, I would appreciate copies of any policies or procedures that govern job revaluation decisions within Manx Care. Thank you.

Response
The Office of Human Resources, Job Evaluation Team support Manx Care by undertaking Job Evaluation's for Manx Pay Terms and Conditions (MPTC) in partnership with Manx Care and maintain a 'MPTC Job Description Library' to keep a record of the most current version of each job description. A 'job evaluation reference number' (JE Ref No.) is allocated to a new role. The way this is structured is as follows; 1. The first four numbers have no specific meaning they are the next number in the sequence. Example, the first job description created is 0001 and the next is 0002 and so on. In this case 1268 is the 1268th job created.
-
The fifth and sixth characters indicate the version of the job description 'v1' means version 1 and 'v2' means version 2' and so on.
-
The seventh and eight letters ('JE') stand for Job Evaluation. This shows that a job description has been reviewed through a Job Evaluation Process (this is standard for all new roles).
-
The last 2 number represent the year the role was created. For example, '23' is 2023 and '09' would mean 2009, etc.
-
If a job is reviewed and updated (e.g. manager uses 'track changes' in Word) the version number increases. For example, is 1268v1/JE/23 is updated, the new version would be 1268v2/JE/23. The base number (1268) and the year (23) remain the same unless a completed new role is created.
Information relating to job revaluation procedures is publicly available online here:

%20Annexes.aspx#annex-sappeals-procedures.
Specifically, you can refer to:
OHR Website → under MPTC → Annex S – Appeal Procedure (see section heading: Job
Evaluation). This section outlines the process for job evaluation appeal.
It's important to note that the process may differ depending on the nature of the
request including, new roles, amended roles or banding review (where someone is in
post) may follow a different route, often involving tracked changes and submission for
evaluation
