- Section 5b in your response on FOI 2030381, you mentioned '(a) were defined after a period of global research, in particular the RECOVERY trial". Please provide a list of the global research and also attach the recovery trial mentioned. - Is the PCR test still being used at hospital? Please also provide the brand used, and if changed, please provide dates (in months) each brand was used.
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing remains a standard method for detecting
genetic material from pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2. Noble’s Hospital continues to
use PCR tests as a confirmatory diagnostic tool for SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory
viruses.
The following PCR assays have been used at Nobles Hospital:
• Cepheid GeneXpert XPRESS, COV-2/FLU/RSV PLUS: This assay has been used
continuously since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
• bioMérieux BioFire FilmArray RP2.1 Plus Panel: This assay was introduced during the
pandemic and remains in use.
• SpeeDx RespiV PlexPlus Panel: In use since November 2024, primarily during the
respiratory virus season.
All three assays listed above are currently in use, depending on clinical needs and
seasonal requirements.
