Please can you advise what due diligence was done on the materials used to construct the crossings on the promenade to ensure the materials were durable enough? These have already started to break up despite only being in place a couple of years. We write further to your request, received 18 March 2025, which states:
"Please can you advise what due diligence was done on the materials used to construct the crossings on the promenade to ensure the materials were durable enough? These have already started to break up despite only being in place a couple of years.
What plans are in place to remediate these issues as they are starting to look unsightly and might become hazardous?"
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.
The manufacture of the materials for the crossings and the design of the crossing were all in accordance with the British Standards.
The Department is currently undergoing an options appraisal for the remediation of the crossings.'
