There is currently no NHS-funded diabetic retinal eye screening on the Isle of Man.

  1. What plans does Manx Care have to implement a diabetic retinal eye screening programme?

There are no plans for Manx Care to implement a diabetic retinal eye screening programme at this time. The Mandate to Manx Care explains that the previously mandated new programme for diabetic retinopathy will not be fully implemented during this service year (2025-2026) but work is ongoing with Public Health to understand the cost and benefit of all potential new programmes.

There is no statutory requirement for Manx Care to provide this service in 2025-2026. As answered in question 2, work is ongoing with Public Health to understand the cost and benefit of all potential new programmes, which includes the Diabetic retinal eye screening programme.
