“How many staff work in the finance team and whether they have used any off island companies?”
All finance functions are provided to Manx care Vis a Shared Service Agreement with Treasury. Treasury provide a range of support services to Manx Care. However, there is a Finance Advisory Service team dedicated to Manx Care which comprises 9.6 fte.
“How many staff work in the commissioning team?”
Manx Care do not have a Commissioning team, instead they have a Contracts Team, which is made up of 11 staff For context the Team arranges and manages around 520 contracts across Manx Care in line with the requirements of our Financial Regulations. This includes Primary Care contracts with GP’s & Dentists , main Tertiary contracts with
North West Trusts and one off arrangements with out of area specialist hospital Trusts in England Social Care & Mental Health contracts.
“What information is held by Manx Care on off island referrals and follow up appointments”
The performance team hold Service Level Agreement Monitoring (SLAM) datasets for
each of the off-island Tertiary Providers. This includes patient level activity and finance
information detailing the activity undertaken by each provider in the reporting month,
split by specialty and covering each point of delivery such as outpatient attendances,
inpatient procedures, critical care bed days and high cost drugs and devices. The
performance team has recently become sighted on patient tracking list (PTL) data sets
that list all patients referred to each provider that are currently on their waiting lists.
A copy of the letter referring any individual off Island to a Tertiary centre is held on
the patient record. The Trusts send on a monthly basis a document called SLAM
(Service Level Agreement Monitoring) which contains data on all activity delivered by
the Trust in the month and the price for each treatment and charges passed on for
such items as drugs administered and medical devices provided. This is broken down
by specialty and PoD’s (Point of Delivery) so we can see for instance the Outpatients
appointments delivered by specialty (broken down by First Appointment, Follow Up or
Outpatient Procedure). The NHS number of each unique patient who received each
service is recorded on the SLAM.
Manx Care also keep a copy of the appointment letter that patients bring to our Patient
Transport Team when requesting that their travel to the appointment is booked (this
could be for any type of appointment – Outpatients follow up, first appointment,
procedure and inpatient for elective procedures etc).
When a patient is discharged a letter from the Trust will be received regarding the
outcome of their treatment, which will be held on the patients’ record.
