We write further to your request, received 11 February 2025, which states:

"In relation to Manx Care's decision to move parentcraft sessions for expectant mothers to an online model please provide:

  • All correspondence received by Manx Care (with personal details omitted) which provides feedback on the face-to-face parentcraft sessions as referenced by the DHSC Minister in the House of Keys on Tuesday, 4 February 2024.

  • All correspondence sent internally within Manx Care which relates to the decision to stop the face-to-face parentcraft sessions for expectant mothers.

  • All correspondence between Manx Care and the Department of Health and Social Care which relates to the decision to stop the face-to-face parentcraft sessions for expectant mothers.

Response

Please see attached documents Parentcraft feedback, Maternity report and HoK oral answer 18.3 in-person parentcraft for answers to points 1, 2 and 3.

Point 4 – cost of the face to face session would have been approximately £234 per Band 6 midwife. Two midwives would attend the 8 ½ hour face to face session on a Saturday. The resources may have needed replacing from time to time i.e. dolls, baby clothing, bean bags etc.

Point 5 – there is no cost for the online sessions. The videos have been recorded internally during working hours.

Point 6 – cost of the face to face session is approximately £52 per Band 6 midwife. Two midwives attend the 2 hour face to face between Monday – Friday.
