Planning & Organisational Skills • Manage personal time effectively to ensure that work in respect of Breast feeding is prioritised and quality assurances and systems are paramount • Prioritise own workload and organise own work effectively to meet all priorities and the needs of the service • Ensure all deadlines are adhered to 5 | P a g e

• Accurately capture and record data in relation to breast feeding and apply quality assurance processes
• Lead on the accreditation of baby friendly initiative for the community based on evidence-based research • Deputise for the service lead Children and Families when required to • Have a flexible, adaptable approach to their work to the meet the needs of the service, clients and meet deadlines • Programmes of service improvement that are informed from audits and service feedback. Physical Skills • Standard keyboard skills are required to write reports, compile presentations and training packages Ability to sit at a workstation for long periods of time • Undertake home visits, attend clinics and meetings Drive a car to work placed centres and patient homes Carry weighing scales • Assess breast feeding practice and provide advice to professionals and parents. Policy/Service Development • Contribute to the review and development of policy and procedures for own work area • Implement policies for own work area which will be rolled out across the department for use by other health care professionals • Inform service development through audit and patient feedback • Advise senior stakeholders on local breast-feeding audits, improvements and nationals’ trends. Financial & Physical Resources • To request funding and resources on a need’s basis • To be responsible for equipment use by self and other colleagues/ health care professionals e.g. Breast pumps and training tools the anatomy, scales. Human Resources • Provide professional leadership in respect of own areas professional teams and other health professionals within the Manx Care where required such as when giving advice, instilling confidence and gaining their understanding behind the academia of the BFI • Deliver BF training to staff and mentoring to students as required. Supervise and oversee work of more junior staff where necessary • Identifying training needs in respect of infant feeding, growth and development in relation to breast feeding, developing and implementing programmes • Workload planning and evaluation on a daily/weekly basis • Direct and oversee care plans for breast feeding parents and their babies for professionals
• Identify and escalate areas of concern in respect of professionals’ practice o Supervise the Infant Feeding team members o Line manager the infant feeding team- PDR/sickness absence/annual leave/rotas. Information Resources • Ability to access and use computerised patient’s records in accordance with local policies • Use of base computers/laptops and mobile devices to access and record accurate patient records and emails both at base and on Community visits 6 | P a g e

• Completes forms/templates on EMIS Web in conjunction with support services to allow reporting of service statistics.
• To be competent in the use of a variety of software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet to enable the production of documents, training materials and reports • Ability to use IT resources during teaching and other presentations. Collate data and run data for audit purposes. Research & Development • To contribute to reports to inform and shape breast feeding practices on the IOM • Undertake R&D on an ongoing basis in respect of BFI
• To produce reports and papers in respect of breastfeeding data and information
• To analyse data in respect of Infant feeding practises • Undertake audits which will be inclusive of the guidance set out by NICE and UNICEF.
