On Island Elective Surgery Based on information so far, it my understanding that no current appointments will be cancelled, cancer surgery not affected, and if anyone needs an emergency appointment which had been identified by a clinician it will happen.  Please confirm 1.  How many estimated on island elective surgery appointments or operations would have taken place in Feb and March, compared to how many are going to take place with these changes.  Can I have a break down by type?  2.  How long are the waiting lists now, and how long will the waiting list increase after this change. 3.  How many people are on the waiting list now, and how many will be on the waiting list after this change. 4.  What is the plan to reduce those waiting list back to the current waiting and how long will that take. 5.  Those people who would have had appointments made in Feb and March, will they be placed in April, May? Or will it be further? 6.  What is the expected cost saving for this exercise? 7.  This will impact waiting times for some people.  Do we have data on the first reduction of on island electives since that change in October.  Expected vs actual.     Off Island Elective Surgery/Appointments Based on information so far, it my understanding that no current appointments will be cancelled, cancer surgery not affected, and if anyone needs an emergency appointment which had been identified by a clinician it will happen.  Please confirm. 1.  How many estimated on island elective surgery appointments or operations would have taken place in Feb and March, compared to how many are going to take place with these changes.  Can I have a break down by type?  2.  How long are the waiting lists now, and how long will the waiting list increase after 5is change. 3.  How many people are on the waiting list now, and how many will be on the waiting list after this change. 4.  What is the plan to reduce those waiting list back to the current waiting and how long will that take. 5.  Those people who would have had appointments made in Feb and March, will they be placed in April, May? Decreased Bank/agency workers?   Ultimately I can’t sugar coat this.  I need the data, and we need to be open and transparent about what the public can expect.  There is a part to this, which I understand (specifically off islands) which is accelerating validation work.  (Was this part of the previous mandates please?  but there is clearly a part to reduce costs, and I need to know why this was the best choice under the circumstances, and essentially what is Manx Care’s plan to get back on track.  Do we have a short two, three, four, five months of longer waiting times and we will be back on track after that?  What is the message?      Also, I should be announcing the status of over spend currently.  I can say that I have been informed last week by the Manx Care Board (Wendy’s letter) that it is currently £15million.  If we don’t do these changes then this figure will go up presumably?   My speech should cover this format, but please add any suggestions.   1.  Clarify the cost associated with the doctors pay awards will be supported by the DHSC budget. 2.  That these changes are not because of that increase to doctors pay. 3.  Description of the changes and reasons, including the made event. 4.  How that effects the end user (data from questions above) 5.  The time expected to recover back to current levels 6.  What Manx Care’s plan is 7.  How often will we be updated on the situation   The Speaker has said if it a long statement then it will need to be circulated to members prior to the sitting ie Tuesday morning, possibly the night before.  So I hope all this information is readily available.   Best Wishes         Claire   Claire Christian BA ( Hons) MHK Member of the House of Keys - Douglas South Minister for the Department of Health and Social Care Member of the Standing Orders of Tynwald Committee Member of the Housing and Communities Board Member of the Sub Committee on Justice Member of the Health Learning and Social Policy Board Member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Legislative Buildings Finch Road Douglas Isle of Man IM1 3PW British Isles   Office Tel:  +44 (0)1624 686166 Mobile:  +44 (0)7624 209800 Claire.christian@gov.im Twitter: @Claire4MHK Facebook: https//www.facebook.com/clairechristianmhkdouglassouth Instagram:  Claire_christian_mhk www.tynwald.org.im Please click the below link for privacy statement which can be found on the Tynwald website. https://www.tynwald.org.im/memoff/member/Documents/ChristianCSB-Privacy- Policy.aspx WARNING: This email message and any files transmitted with it are confidential and may be subject to legal privilege.
