Original Request

I recently made a Freedom of Information Request regarding sheltered housing, the reference number is 427534, to the Department of Health and social Care. They were unable to respond to my request, and advised that I should repeat the request to the Department of Infrastructure. My question was, I would like to know how many people on the island are in sheltered accommodation under the age of sixty five. If there are any I would like to know under which local authorities areas they are. I wish to add that I am not interested in individuals private affairs, merely to find out if exceptional circumstances apply to them to live in sheltered accommodation.

This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2015.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested. This is because the Department of Infrastructure does not manage any sheltered accommodation. There are a variety of sheltered housing providers on the Island, both public sector as well as private schemes such as Cannon Court in Kirk Michael, Ian Cannel Court in Douglas and St Ninians Scheme by Hartford Homes. These examples are only a proportion of the Island’s sheltered housing providers. In order to assist you, we have attached a list of the contact information for the Public Sector Housing Authorities who you may wish to contact directly. In addition, you may find more information about housing authorities on the Department’s Public Estates and Housing Webpage at https://www.gov.im/categories/home-and-neighbourhood/affordable-housing/public- sector-housing/public-sector-older-persons-sheltered-housing/

Please quote the reference number 433133 in any future communications.
