Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 19 November 2024, which states:

"Can I ask what the salaries are of the current format of Port Security officers, Supervisors Security Manger & their deputy along with the percentages which are in place and what the percentages are for.

Also the same question as above but in relation to the name change of the above positions due to the fact that their job roles are changing and becoming part of the DHA"

Our response to your request is as follows: Information held

Table 1:

Percentages: These basic rates do not include any percentage uplifts for working shifts. Port Security Supervisors/Officers receive an enhanced consolidated payment of 34% of basic pay in full recompense for the below. The Port Security Managers receive a consolidated percentage of 31.5% this figure is reduced from the full percentage paid to Supervisors and Officers as there is no requirement for this post to work night shift, if a night shift is performed then the standard premium allowances would apply. In

respect of an allowance breakdown for each grade, this is not held by the department, but we have added what the percentage is for.

The new proposed conditions listed below, if accepted, would enable the Department to increase the additional allowances above basic paid to Port Services Officers from 30% to 34%. 1. Staff supply Home and Mobile contact numbers.
2. Agreement to move shifts when Leave has not been taken.
3. All extra shift cover will be by full shift unless authorised.
4. Tanker overtime will be for full shift unless authorised.
5. Lieu time only granted with 48 hours’ notice unless authorised.
6. Shift / Duties will be changed subject to agreed procedures.
7.
Supervisory Officers will monitor the allocation of extra duty to determine selection when there are no volunteers.
The above list is subject to procedural arrangements which will be determined after full consultation with Staff Representation and the Department.
Please see table 2 with the omission of the deputy security manager who will be remaining with the Department of Infrastructure, the job roles are not changing but rather the section is moving to the Department of Home Affairs. The decision was made to remove the word security from the job title, to hopefully alter the public perception that the officers are just security guards with no power, this was done at the request by most of the staff. Please find the Staff Information Booklet attached for further information which elements have been redacted as they fall out of scope of the request.
