Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 7 October 2024, which states:

"A copy of records of invoices, purchase orders and receipts for all NextGen Network events, and a copy of the records showing how the provider(s) were selected to provide goods and services for these events.

I believe there has only been one event held (in 2024) but it is possible that there have been more such events."

Our response to your request is as follows:

On Thursday 26th September, Finance Isle of Man hosted the first NextGen Network event, aimed at finance professionals under 35. The event brought together young professionals from across the sector to network in a relaxed, informal setting. A total of twenty eight guests attended with two Department Officers in attendance as the hosts.

In determining the venue for this event, the Department followed Financial Practice Note C.06 of the Isle of Man Government Financial Regulations. This states:-

“For Orders/Contracts with a cost of £2,000 or less:

3.1. The Delegated Officer must be able to demonstrate that value for money has been considered when procuring goods and/or services.“

In accordance with this, the Department looked at various venues in order to make an assessment of their suitability, taking into account considerations of cost, location and facilities to demonstrate value for money. After review, the Bridge Inn was chosen, with no venue hire costs being applied and meeting the location and facilities criteria, this was considered to be the most suitable venue.

The total cost of hosting this event was £275.85 (receipt attached).
