I seek information relating to external exam results for the academic year 2023-24, namely: Copies of email communication and such other information generated between the Department and its schools relating to the reporting of both GCSE and A Level results (and "equivalent" qualifications e.g. BTECs). This includes but is not limited to 'Results Lite' correspondence, details on specific reporting requirements (e.g. timescales, KPIs to be reported on and resulting data etc); and Analysis and reports already compiled by the Department from such information received. This includes but is not limited to IOM 2023-24 averages for given performance metrics, such comparisons as may have been undertaken with preceding academic years, reports/briefings prepared for the Political Members, the Schools, the media and for other use; and Such DESC policy as may be in force regarding the discounting of pupils for 2023-24 examination purpose data e.g. pupils with a given absence rate over a defined period etc.

2024 Guidance on Year 11 pupils who may be disapplied from a school’s Level 1 and 2 results reporting

The following guidelines for the exclusion of students from the published aggregate results are similar to previous years.

Level 1/ 2 results Level 1/2 results should include all those pupils taught in Year 11 on the third Thursday in January, 2024 (ie 18th January) who had been aged 15 years on 31 August 2023. You should therefore exclude any students taught in Year 11 but not of the correct age. You should include results from last year for any Year 11 pupils who sat Level 1/2 qualifications a year early.

The following pupils should be excluded from the total of Year 11 pupils for the purposes of calculating the GCSE and equivalent examination results.

• Those pupils identified as having *Complex Needs and who have had a significantly modified timetable, including attendance in an SPC or at the Education Support Centre Thie Ny Shee, in Key Stage 4 (around one third of the timetable modified over KS4) • Those pupils recognised as having Complex Needs in a Social, Emotional Behavioural context (ie typically with a Boxall diagnostic profile >70 etc). • Those pupils who had been accepted by the Principal of University College Isle of Man for full-time attendance on a course at the College. • Those pupils who were total non-attenders at the school in the entire period of September 2023 to December 2023 (inclusive).
• Those pupils who have had an attendance of less than 40% over the entirety of Year 10 and 11 and where the school can provide of evidence of involvement of other agencies (EWOs, CAHMS, Police Early Action Team or other) in supporting improved engagement of these young people with education.
