While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public
authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of
the information that you have requested.
The Department of Infrastructure holds limited data in relation to the information you
have requested as our Housing team will receive information regarding new builds if
the development qualifies to include affordable housing which is within the remit of the
Department's functions.
Therefore, the scope of the data we hold would not fully satisfy the scope of your
request and recommend you direct your query to the Cabinet Office Planning Strategy
Team and the Planning Directorate in the Department of Environment, Food and
Agriculture.
We hold a table which collates the number of dwellings completed from 2007-2023, please see below. There is also a guidance note in relation to the data below the table.
Year Private Public Total 2007 221 154 375 2008 153 186 339 2009 384 84 468 2010 112 186 298 2011 105 113 218 2012 152 156 308 2013 81 128 209 2014 124 85 209 2015 163 81 244 2016 156 32 188 2017 164 78 242 2018 130 16 146 2019 154 51 205 2020 144 16 160 2021 128 67 195 2022 213 56 269 2023 134 65 199 Please note: (i) Private housing is all new housing excluding affordable housing.

A property that has been ‘replaced’ includes existing properties that have been refurbished or demolished and a new property has been built on the site in the cases of older or unsuitable property.
