Original Request

----------- I request records showing a detailed breakdown of the income received by the Central Registry for the 2023-24 financial year. Ideally, I would like this information to be broken down by category of product or form, such as company registrations, searches, and other services offered by the Central Registry. However, if such a breakdown is not readily available, I am happy to receive any existing reports or management records that align with the periodical financial reporting structure already in place within the department (e.g., monthly or quarterly reports as they already exist). If there are any sections of this request that are unclear or that would require additional clarification to meet your reporting capabilities, please feel free to contact me to refine the request. I ask that the information be provided in a spreadsheet format - CSV, XLS, or ODT.

Full Response Text

Operational income is further broken down under the following cost centres:

Small Registers
• Total Income = £10 in relation to Trade Unions

Land & Deeds Registries • Total Income = £6,745,017.57 • Office Copies purchased = £22,730.50
• Deeds purchased = £36,174 • Fees and duties paid on applications = £6,686,113.07

The above figures in respect of Office Copies and Deeds are understated, the breakdown of purchases having been made at the counter in March 2024 not being available due to the Section’s tilling system being replaced. However, the average monthly income figure for Office Copies purchased at the counter in 2023/24 amounted to £110.50, for Deeds £216.
Any changes to the figures would therefore be minimal.

Civil Registry (Inc Approved Places) • Total Income = £136,261.79 • Registration Certificates purchased online = £23,821 • Birth/Death notifications made online = £17,589 • Registrations, Certificates, Notices, Approved Place ceremonies = £94,851.79

Public Record Office • Total Income = £2,672.53 • Sale of goods (will boxes by auction) = £2,380.31 • Fees for reprographic orders = £292.22

Companies • Total Income = £9,728,025.29 • Online Search Income = £159,741 • Online Incorporation (2006 Act Only) Income = £93,450 • Online Annual Return Income = £1,443,465 • Fees and duties paid for registrations = £8,031,369.29

As a result of the new tilling system installed in the Central Registry, a more comprehensive breakdown of the services and products paid for over the public counter is available from April 2024.
