Dear ###

We write further to your request received 24 September 2024, which states:

"Since 2011, please outline the names and dates of fishing vessels which have had their Sea Fisheries licence revoked, annulled, cancelled, paused or transferred owing to them having sank."

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested.

To offer advice and assistance, under the Sea Fisheries (Licensing) (Fishing Vessels) Regulations 2021 (as well as pre-existing regulations concerning the licensing of fishing vessels), sea fishing licences are automatically suspended if a fishing vessel sinks, is scrapped or is for any other reason de-registered.

It is possible that the Isle of Man Ship Registry at the Department for Enterprise holds information on the names of Manx Fishing Vessels which have sank, and the date upon which they sank, since 2011. Any such fishing vessels would have had their sea fishing licences suspended by the Department as per above. They may also be able to assist you with regard to who might hold similar information in respect of non-Manx vessels, in respect of which the same legislation applies.

Please quote the reference number 4140473 in any future communications.
