Dear ###,

We write further to your request, received 29 August 2024, which states:

"Please can you let me know how many managers are employed by Manx Care"

We sought clarification from you on 29 August 2024 and you kindly confirmed the following:

“Having thought about it some more I would like to know the total spend on managers & admin staff for 2023/2024 and then for nurses, has & porters.”

Our response to your request is as follows:
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of the information that you have requested. This is in line with section 11(3)a of the Act, as a practical refusal reason applies; namely we do not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested. Manx Care currently do not classify spend under the categories which you have listed, however in order to provide advice and guidance, it may be helpful for you to know that figures are categorised under the following employment terms and conditions.
The information provided is based on financial years (1st April – 31st March) rather than a calendar year as this is how the original data is collected:

Broadly speaking, Civil Service T&Cs relate to Social Workers, administrative, support and managerial functions. Manx Pay T&Cs relate largely to nurses and allied health professionals. Health Medical and Dental includes doctors and dentists who are directly employed, National Joint Council includes care workers in social care, Whitley Council covers our support staff such as porters, cleaners etc. as well as Social Care workers. Some of our employees will be on Individual Contracts that sit outside the above T&Cs and that’s included in the final 2 categories.
Please quote the reference number 4090345 in any future communications.
