I'd like to request information regarding any guidance which the department holds in relation to the practical motorcycle tests. Specifically any guidance that may be used by examiners when assessing driving, including what may constitute a fault.

We write further to your request, received 18 July 2024, which states:
"I'd like to request information regarding any guidance which the department holds in relation to the practical motorcycle tests. Specifically any guidance that may be used by examiners when assessing driving, including what may constitute a fault."
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee.
There is hardcopy literature available free of charge at the Vehicle Test Centre with guidance on passing a motorcycle tests. This currently only available in hardcopy form but can be provided to you upon request at the reception.
However, the Department does not hold specific guidance (public or for examiner use) on what actions constitutes a fault, only that a fault occurs where there is failure to meet a testable requirement.
