Original Request

Please supply any and all information related to engagement with the Isle of Man Law Society in relation to a pro bono pledge and/or a formal pro bono legal support and legal representation scheme in the over 1 million minutes from August 2022 to date given literally 1 handful of relevant references to the phrase "pro bono" in thousands of cases, what appears to be an absence of a standardised format in judgments to state "pro bono" in the header and what appears to be an entirely disregarded judgment in the family court by Deemster Corlett FAM 2013/0090 dated 16 October 2013 that stated: https://www.judgments.im/content/J1436.htm .... 64. One final matter has caused me concern. It is unfortunate, to say the least, that neither parent had the benefit of legal representation. In the father's case, this was, I understand, simply a matter of affordability. It is unclear why the mother did not have legal representation. Legal representation in family cases invariably has the effect of improving the court process and of enabling the court to focus on the essentials of a case. It is perhaps a matter for the Isle of Man Law Society to implement a formal pro bono representation scheme to ensure that those in the position of the parties before me in this case have the benefit of legal representation in matters of such fundamental importance.
