Dear ###

We write further to your request received 1 July 2024, which states:

"The UK has allowed pharmacies to give COVID jabs to citizens at a cost who are not currently included in the age bands to receive them for free. What discussion or inquiries have been made as to whether our local pharmacies are prepared to provide this service. When will be allowed to get these jabs ?"

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Department of Health and Social Care (the Department) is unable to provide the information that you have requested. This is in line with Section 11(3)a of the Act, as a practical refusal reason applies; namely we do not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under Section 15 of the Freedom of Information Act 2015 (Duty to provide advice and assistance), the Department does not hold a record of these specific discussions being held. However a discussion has been held around the topic of considering the delivery of COVID vaccination programmes by GPs alongside existing vaccination programmes (i.e. Flu, Shingles, Pneumococcal).
