We write further to your request, received 11 June 2024, which states:

"1 Number of complaints since January 2023 regarding complaints of E Scooters, what the complaint was, Road the incident took place, if any were arrests were made/ fines

  1. How many arrests have been made to E Scooter users

  2. Number of dashcam footage regarding e scooters sent to Police

4 Number of E Scooters seized

  1. Number of persons pulled over due to having an E Scooter on a highway

  2. What is the current Police's approach to E Scooters if one is found on the public highway?"

Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.

  1. There are 3 relevant events relating to e scooters recorded. No arrests appear to have resulted from these incidents. One of the three were issued a fixed penalty notice.
  2. Arrests are not recorded in a way that would specifically identify e scooter users.
  3. Information not held.
  4. There has been 1 E Scooter seized.
  5. Information not held.
  6. There is no specific policy at present. E Scooter is a mechanically propelled vehicle as defined within the Road Traffic Act and its use on roads may therefore attract criminal liability in a range of circumstances set out within the act.
