Could the Department for Enterprise please provide: (i) The number of promotional 'Locate.im' beer mats ordered by the Department for distribution at hospitality venues during the Isle of Man TT 2024; (ii) Where these beer mats were distributed; (iii) The total cost of producing and distributing the beer mats; and (iv) What other similar promotional materials (i.e. physical items other than fixed advertising banners or displays bearing DfE branding and messaging) have been produced and distributed during the Isle of Man TT 2024.

We write further to your request, received 6 June 2024, which states:

"Could the Department for Enterprise please provide:

(i) The number of promotional 'Locate.im' beer mats ordered by the Department for distribution at hospitality venues during the Isle of Man TT 2024;

(ii) Where these beer mats were distributed;

(iii) The total cost of producing and distributing the beer mats;

and

(iv) What other similar promotional materials (i.e. physical items other than fixed advertising banners or displays bearing DfE branding and messaging) have been produced and distributed during the Isle of Man TT 2024."

Our response to your request is as follows:

(i) The number of promotional 'Locate.im' beer mats ordered by the Department for distribution at hospitality venues during the Isle of Man TT 2024

No Locate Isle of Man beer mats were ordered for the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races. Approximately 2,000 beer mats were distributed in 2024, using stocks ordered in 2023.

(ii) Where these beer mats were distributed

The Locate Isle of Man beer mats were distributed to various establishments and venues across the Island in line with Locate Isle of Man's campaign activity for the 2024 TT Races. This included being handed out at a variety of 'pop-up' and 'walking’ activities around the Island, including (but not limited to):

  • Sea Terminal departures and arrival areas (including pop up information desk in the main concourse)

  • Sea Terminal Welcome Centre

  • IOM Airport mezzanine/departures & arrival areas
  • Public houses in Peel, Crosby, Ramsey and the South
  • Ramsey Sprint
  • TT Fan Park
  • Grandstand & Ticket Office
  • Bushy's TT Village

(iii) The total cost of producing and distributing the beer mats

There was no cost associated with producing and distributing the beer mats to hospitality venues during 2024, as stocks ordered in 2023 were used. In 2023, the Department ordered 30,000 beer mats at a total cost of £1,953.

(iv) What other similar promotional materials (i.e. physical items other than fixed advertising banners or displays bearing DfE branding and messaging) have been produced and distributed during the Isle of Man TT 2024.

The other items produced by the Department for Enterprise included the following:

For Visit Isle of Man, the following pieces of collateral were produced for the 2024 TT Races, at a total cost of £696. These were distributed across the Welcome Centre, Sea Terminal, Airport, and added to the literature ordering portal for accommodation providers:

  • 10,000 A5 leaflets - 'TT 2024 What's On'
  • 10,000 A5 leaflets - 'Your Guide to TT 2024'

For Locate Isle of Man, the following pieces of collateral were produced for the 2024 TT Races at a total cost of £1,526.

  • 2,000 TT Relocation Guides (12-page A5 guide)
  • 10,000 A6 postcards

These were distributed at the same locations as the beer mats, in addition to other establishments, including the Santander Work Café and various retail, accommodation and hospitality providers across the Island.
