Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 28 May 2024, which states:

"Please supply details of the maximum load weights for the linkspan and piers at both Douglas and Heysham ports."

Our response to your request is as follows:

The linkspans and piers in Heysham are not owned or maintained by the Department of Infrastructure.

For the piers in Douglas, there is no information on load capacity due to the age of them. They have been fixed and amended over the years but there has been no figure given.

Link span 5: 160t static weight. 89t on the tide follower Link span 1: 100t but due to the age of the equipment this has been reduced to 1 to 2 trailer loads at one time (approx. 80t) and this is only if number 5 berth is not available for load/discharge. This is to aid in the extension of the lifespan of the Link span.
