Summary
The requester sought details on formal dyslexia training for 11 teachers, but the Department of Education clarified that only 6 teachers received such training and could not provide CPD points for any course. The authority disclosed course names, lengths, providers, and modes of delivery for the six confirmed cases while noting the original count of 11 was an error.
Key Facts
- The Department of Education corrected the number of teachers with formal recognised dyslexia training from 11 to 6.
- Information regarding CPD points awarded for the training courses was not held by the authority.
- Training providers included Nessy.com, Bristol Dyslexia Centre, The School Psychology Service, and the British Dyslexia Association.
- Course durations ranged from 1 hour to 1 year, with modes including online, face-to-face, and workbook follow-ups.
- The error in the previous FOI response (3814753) was attributed to a school misinterpreting the question regarding formal training.

You will see that the above response is detailed information held for 6 teachers and not 11 as referenced in FOI 3814753. This is due to one of the schools misinterpreting the question and although the staff members have received additional CPD training on Dyslexia reading intervention for children this is not “recognised formal training in dyslexia”.
The Department apologise for this error and have amended the number of staff members on FOI 3814753..
Please quote the reference number 3880053 in any future communications.
