Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 15 May 2024, which states:

"For each of the past 10 years, how many times has the Fire and Rescue Service issued a charge for
(a) false alarms
(b) fake/prank calls
and in each of those categories for each of those years, how many times has the charge not been paid?"

We have used the last seven years as an appropriate and reasonable period for providing the statistics as a difference to the last ten. This approach aligns with our Financial Regulations, which allow keeping financial records for this period. Therefore, it is more practical and reasonable to collate and supply seven years' worth of statistics. a) False Alarms: Total Charges Issued (939) • 2017: 136 • 2018: 120 • 2019: 135 • 2020: 117 • 2021: 131 • 2022: 124 • 2023: 176 b) Fake/Prank Calls: Total Charges Issued (0) While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of the information that you have requested.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide information on the number of times these charges have not been paid.

In accordance with Section 9 of the Isle of Man Freedom of Information Act 2015, which relates to the duty to assist applicants, we recommend that you contact the Treasury directly to obtain the information regarding unpaid charges. They may hold the records you are seeking.

Please quote the reference number 3858589 in any future communications.
