Dear ###

We write further to your request, received 2 May 2024, which states:

"Details of all nursing agencies registered with Registrations and Inspections Team, date of application and registration and details of any pending application for registrations.

Copy of investigation procedures if R&I is informed that nurses have paid fees to agencies to obtain their Isle of Man jobs or do not benefit from the payment of relocation grants etc

Copy of investigation and enforcement action policy if an unregistered nursing agency is providing nursing staff on the Island
Details of any enforcement action taken in last 5 years against unregistered nursing agencies"

The Department of Health & Social Care (the Department) has provided the following answers to the four separate questions within your request;

  1. There are currently 2 Nursing Agencies registered under the Regulation of Care Act 2013 – Platinum Recruitment Ltd, registration date 9/1/23 and Top Care Nursing Agency, registration date 18/9/20. We currently have no applications for registration of Nursing Agencies.

  2. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under Section 15 of the Freedom of Information Act 2015 (Duty to provide advice and assistance), this question is outside the remit of the Registration and Inspections team within the Department. If there are concerns regarding a registered provider, the Department would use any intelligence gathering processes available to assess the ‘services risk level’ for the continued suitability.

  3. If the Registration and Inspections team was to become aware of an unregistered nursing agency, they would then follow the processes enclosed in the ‘2023 Enforcement Policy & Procedure’ which are attached to this response and titled ‘Doc 01’.

  4. There have been no enforcement actions taken against unregistered nursing agencies in the last five years.
