"Foi Manxcare

  1. How many hospital admission patients had a diagnosis of current malignant cancer. Either admitted for or as comorbidity each year from 2015 to 2024.

  2. Please breakdown the above to show which ones had a previous history of cancers.

  3. How many since 2020 have a previous history of a covid infection?

  4. Please provide the ages or average age for the above per year."

Our response to your request is as follows:

The following data is based on ADMISSIONS between 01 Jan 2015 and 30 April 202423:59:59. Numbers EXCLUDE Private patients and Archived episodes. The results below are a count of Patient Admissions (Spells) – it is not unfeasible that a Patient can be admitted more than once in this timeframe.

  1. There were 18,041 Patient SPELLS (that referenced 20,733 episodes) with a ICD10 clinical coding covering the whole of chapter C – C00.- C97X (Malignant Cancer). Please see the supporting Documentation for the yearly breakdown.
  2. Of the 18,041 spells, 3,234 of these Patient spells had episode(s) with ICD10 Clinical coding Z850 - ---- Z859 (defining history of cancer). Please see the supporting Documentation for the yearly breakdown.
  3. Of the 18,041 spells, 119 of these Patient spells had episode(s) with ICD10 Clinical coding U073 (defining history of covid). Please see the supporting Documentation for the yearly breakdown.
