Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 19 March 2018 and which states:

"Hello, please could you provide the following information: 1. Number of pot holes and road surface defects reported during 2017 and 2018. 2. The locations of the reported pot holes and road surface defects during 2017 and 2018 3. Which of those reported pot holes and road surface defects have been repaired and which are still outstanding."

Our response to your request is as follows: 1. Potholes reported = 1,106. Road surface defects reported = 140 2. See Appendix 1 and please note the following:

Not all entries on the spreadsheet have a location listed. This is dependent on how individuals have input data and is something we are working to standardise in the future. Some information has been redacted from the spreadsheet provided. This is because the data entered was such that they could be used to identify third parties and thus are subject to an exemption under section 25. Therefore, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because it is absolutely exempt under section 25 of the Act (absolutely exempt personal information). The reasons why that exemption applies are that • The Department of Infrastructure is satisfied that the information amounts to personal data under the Data Protection Act 2002. • The Department of Infrastructure is satisfied that disclosure of the information would contravene one of the data protection principles, namely that the

Department of Infrastructure can only disclose the information where it would be fair, lawful and meet one of the conditions in schedule 2 and in this case, none of those conditions have been met. 3. Potholes outstanding = 23. Road surface defects outstanding = 26. Please quote the reference number 360145 in any future communications.
