Summary
The Department of Health and Social Care disclosed detailed tables showing Units of Dental Activity (UDAs) contracted, completed, and achievement percentages for various dental providers across the 2014/2015, 2015/2016, and 2016/2017 financial years. The response also included specific year-end agreements regarding how providers addressed shortfalls, such as financial reimbursement or creating capacity for new NHS patients.
Key Facts
- Information was released for three financial years: 2014/2015, 2015/2016, and 2016/2017.
- Providers who failed to meet 100% of contracted UDAs were required to either reimburse the shortfall financially or create capacity for new NHS patients.
- Some providers carried forward unachieved UDAs to the following financial year as part of their agreement.
- One provider, Ravat & Ray Dental Practice, had a UDA shortfall dispute recorded for the 2015/2016 period.
- The data supersedes previous Freedom of Information responses regarding UDA delivery.

Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 12 March 2018 and which states:
"Please provide the percentage of UDAs achieved by each dental provider as well as the UDAs contracted by each dental provider in the years 2016/2017, 2015/2016 and 2014/2015 as well as details of the UDA shortfalls repaid for the same years."
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you.
The tables on the following pages show for each period, the Provider & Dental
Surgery, the Units of Dental Activity (UDAs) which were contracted to the Provider in
the given year and the number of UDAs completed alongside the % of completion.
We have also included information, if a Provider had not achieved 100% of the
contracted UDAs in the given year, on what agreement was made between the
Department and the Provider regarding the reimbursement of any shortfall. The
information supplied in this FOI is the most up to date information held by the
Department of Health and Social Care and should supersede previous FOIs regarding
UDA delivery.

By way of additional information, if a Provider over-achieves on their contracted UDA
delivery, they are not reimbursed by the Department for this and nor is there a
reduction in the UDAs they are to achieve in the following year.
