Thank you for your requests dated 4 and 15 October 2017: Your requests Your requests were as follows: Request dated 4 October 2017 (ref no: IM105657I) “IM102079I Previous request reference. As you will not disclose the amounts individually, I will formulate my request as follows:- What is the total cost of the rescue helicopters, erecting and dismantling signage, straw bales and other safety equipment around the TT, and erecting and dismantling barriers on roads adjacent to the TT Course to indicate the roads are closed for practice and race periods for the TT and FOM, in 2017? Thank you” Request dated 15 October 2017 (ref no: IM106858I) “1.Please provide the total annual cost, not individual, of the salaries of the motorsport team, including part time workers. 2.Please provide the total cost, not individual, of (a) preparing the course for racing, installing straw bales, signage etc, (b) hiring of toilets (c) security regarding the grandstand and camping areas and road bridges (d) putting up and taking down road close barriers. By total cost I mean the costs of (a)(b)(c) and (d) added together.

These questions are with regards to 2017 TT and MGP.” Response to requests Under section 11(3) practical refusal reason (b) of the Act referencing s8(3), the Act states that “a public authority is not required to create or derive information from the information that it holds; undertake research into, or analysis of, information that it holds; or undertake substantial compilation or collation of information that it holds”. We are unable to analyse and compile the information that we hold in the exact way that you request. However we are able to provide the following information: In relation to part 1 of your request dated 15 October 2017, the total annual cost of the gross salaries of the Motorsport team, including part-time workers, is £291,511. In relation to your requests for the total costs of helicopters, preparing the course for racing, installing straw bales, signage etc, hiring of toilets, security regarding the grandstand and camping areas and road bridges and putting up and taking down road close barriers, we are able to provide a total cost that includes the following in relation to the TT and FOM 2017:

 emergency helicopter services  erecting safety barriers and signage for TT & FOM 2017;  provision of toilets for TT & FOM 2017;  provision of electrical services for TT & FOM 2017;  security and paddock management (including cleaning of the Grandstand) for TT & FOM 2017.

The total cost for the above is £1,536,716.05. It should be noted that the costs above do not include costs that might be incurred by other government Departments in relation to the information requested, such as the removal of signage and cones on the mountain during the event etc., nor does it include the cost of the provision of Marshals.
