REQUEST UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2015 (“the Act”)
Thank you for your request to the Department of Health and Social Care, dated 31 August
2017
Your request
You asked for:
Question 01: “With the recent pay rise of 2.2% did all areas within the department
receive the same amount of rise. Have some received non and have
some received more?”
Response to your request
We are pleased to be able to provide a response to your request with answers to your
questions:
Question 01: With the recent pay rise of 2.2% did all areas within the department
receive the same amount of rise. Have some received none and have some received more
In response to Question 01, the 2.2% rise was agreed by the Public Service Commission
for staff in groups for which they are the employer for the year 2017/18. This includes
Civil Servants and Manual and Craft Workers working in the Department of Health and
Social Care. Other groups of staff have terms and conditions which are determined by the
Department of Health and Social care through Joint Negotiating mechanisms this includes
Medical and Dental Staff for whom a 1% pay rise was agreed for 2017/18.
Agreement has not been reached on a pay rise for other groups of staff employed by the
Department for the current year. However staff employed by The Department under
National Joint Council or Manx Pay Terms and Conditions were recently awarded a 2.5%
pay rise for the year 2016/17 following arbitration which took place around the same time
as arbitration of the current year’s Public Service Commission award.
