REQUEST UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2015 (“the Act”) Thank you for your request to the Department of Health and Social Care, dated 23 August 2017 Your request You asked for: Question 01: “Could you please tell me for each of the past five years: a) how many people are employed by the Department of Health and Social Care in media relations, public relations and marketing roles; and
b) what the total annual cost is to the Department?” Response to your request In response to your question, for the financial year ending 31 March 2013 the Department engaged three people in roles related to Media Relations, Public Relations and Marketing at a cost of £81,037. In the financial year ended 31 March 2014 the Department engaged three people in roles related to Media Relations, Public Relations and Marketing, however, one of these posts was not filled for the full year and was subsequently removed from the Department’s establishment. The cost for this year was £59,403. On 1 April 2014 the two posts remaining in the Department were transferred to the Cabinet Office Communications Team as part of the Isle of Man Government’s move to Shared Services; the cost to the Department for these roles from this date onwards was therefore nil. It is worth noting that the above posts and figures do not include posts engaged in social marketing as part of the Public Health Directorate’s activities in Health Promotion and Health Protection.
