Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 16th May 2022 which states:

"Please can you confirm the average time in A&E to see the Triage nurse in 2021 and also the target times to see Triage."

Our Response

National Standard target time to see a triage Nurse is 15 minutes. The average time to see the Triage nurse in Manx Care in 2021 was 21 minutes. Some of this time can be attributed to the additional need for PPE and deep cleans required between patients as per covid Infection control policy. ED have also introduced the Manchester Triage System, which is a nationally recognised clinical tool to support triage nurses in decision making and reduce the amount of time spent in triage. This has resulted in the delivery of Triage specific training for all of our nurses and paramedics. Please quote the reference number 2447257 in any future communications.
