Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 5 May 2022 and which states:

"Since being approved by Tynwald, have all of the maps within the Area Plan for the East been subsequently checked to ensure that they are correct and do not contain cartographical errors? How many maps within the Area plan for the East have been found to contain cartographical errors? Please provide details of any maps with errors and a description of each error"

Our response to your request is as follows: All of the Area Plan for the East Maps have been checked for errors since the Plan’s approval by Tynwald. Two mapping errors have been identified and both were brought to the attention of Cabinet Office. One error was found on Map 10 - Crosby (and subsequently on Map 3 as the same data is used for the Proposals Map). The settlement boundary around the Crosby Meadows Estate (Site MH021) was found to extend further to the west and south than was intended in the Modifications documentation published on 14 February 2020.

The Draft Plan shows how the settlement boundary around Crosby Meadows should have appeared on the final map. One other error was found to have occurred. This was in respect of land at 'Ballabluff' in Laxey. A query was raised with Cabinet Office and subsequently investigated. Thereafter followed an exchange of correspondence between the landowner and Cabinet Office regarding the error which related to the settlement boundary position relating to land at Ballabluff.

The final Map for Laxey (Map 7) is available on the Government webpage: https://www.gov.im/media/1370404/map-7-laxey-dec20.pdf The intention was for the settlement boundary to continue to align with the railway line rather than being stepped back to Pinfold Hill at the land known as Ballabluff. The settlement boundary in this area should have reflected the Draft Plan published in May 2018.
